Bjorn & Selena

Bjorn and Selena
Summer is just about over and it is back to school for Bjorn and Selena. We had a magnificent summer together, even though it all went by so fast and we did not get to explore Crete as much as we wanted to. In August we went to Germany for two and a half weeks to visit our family. We had a wonderful time, the kids really enjoyed being with their grandma and grandpa and also being with their uncle Gert, aunt Birgit and cousin Marvin . We took many beautiful walks through the pine forest which is absolutely breath taking. On our way to Germany we flew by plane. On our way back we took the boat. That was fantastic and the kids loved it!! The drive from Germany took us through Austria and Italy-Ancona , from there we took the big boat to Patras and then another boat from Athens to Crete. This was a fascinating adventure for us, as we all slept in our reliable and very loaded little Jeepy over night.

BJORN:

Bjoern finished 1st grade with an A average. He is now in 2nd grade and is doing extremely well. He is still enthusiastic about drawing and making beautiful pictures. His newest hobby is now rock painting, actually he manages to make a business out of it. Every now and then he'll set up his little table under this huge walnut tree in front  of our home and sit there and try to sell his crafts. So cute!!!! he's without a doubt his father's son. Bike riding is a big love of his and playing soccer with his friends. This fall he will start piano lessons in a nearby village with a very nice teacher. Joern and I enjoy so much being with him and watching him grow. His mind never stop wondering and he is always curious about the wonders of the world. if your answer to his question is not satisfying, he will not leave you be until he is satisfied. On December 8th he will celebrate his 8th birthday. Wow!!!! it has been a magnificent 8 years knowing him and most of all loving him. I also speak these words on behalf of his Papa.

SELENA:

Selena is now a first grader. She is doing extremely well and enjoying taking the school bus every morning with her big brother. Sometimes home work is a bit much, but her big brother is always willing to help her out if necessary. Like her brother she is also into her art, rock painting and picking walnuts. Last winter she took a few piano lessons, but realized it is not for her.  This fall she will start belly dancing again with a small group of girls her age, under my direction. On September 14th she turned 6 years old. Wow!!!! I can still remember vividly the day I brought her into this world in 4 minutes, now she is 6. She still has her long black curls even though we are tempted every now and then to give her that amazing afro look back. She is very sweet and charming and very loving and affectionate. Her closest and dearest friend is Elias (he is the son of our friends from Norway). They sit together in class, they have lunch together and they play together at recess. Yes, they are buddies and pals.
